Use These Tips To Have Better Business Security For Your Employees

By Mark Mahaffey

If you own your own business, you are no doubt interested in keeping your employees safe from crime. And it is your job to do everything possible to educate them on how to lessen the chances that they will be the victim of a crime. Business security is something that you should take very seriously.

Teaching your employees about staying safe is part of the process of having great business security. One way to do this is to make it mandatory for your those whom you hire to attend regular meetings during which you discuss business security practices. This way, each employee stays informed about the best practices when it comes to your company's security policy.

One of the first areas to cover is the policy around dealing with money. If you have employees that take money to the bank at the end of each business day, then having some special rules around this activity is important. To crooks who may be watching, mugging someone carrying a money bag to the car may seem like a very easy target!

Setting up guidelines around taking money to the bank is simple. First, instruct your employees that they should never take the money to the bank alone. Smart business security around money deposits include making sure that at least two workers go. A mugger may be less likely to attack when there are two people present.

It is also important for them to make a special effort to be aware of their surroundings. Make sure they look around the parking lot carefully before going to their car. If they see anything suspicious, they should call the police. Also, once they start driving to the bank, they should be on the lookout for anyone who could be following them.

When they arrive at the bank, instruct them to make sure that there is good lighting around the deposit slot. The money should be deposited as fast as possible, and they should continue watching the area around them. If they keep a phone with them, they can call for help if someone should threaten them.
